ICAC 2024
The 6th International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC) is organized by the Faculty of Computing of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) as an open forum for academics along with industry professionals to present the latest findings and research output and practical deployments in the Computer Science and Information Technology domains. All five ICAC conferences held from 2019 to 2023 were successfully conducted with a technical co-sponsorship by IEEE Sri Lanka.
ICAC aims to elevate the research landscape and attract a diverse group of researchers, creating a platform to showcase their research work, network, and initiate collaborations. This year’s conference is especially focused on bridging the horizons in Artificial intelligence for the betterment of the future, acknowledging the advancements of computing.
ICAC 2024 will feature a pre-conference summer school, providing an invaluable platform for aspiring researchers to immerse themselves in emerging trends and technologies while cultivating skills and knowledge to the continually evolving fields of computing and information technology.

Tech Talk on “The Alignment of LLMs Through the Lens of Data and Algorithms”
This talk discusses improving the safety and alignment of large language models (LLMs) with human values. It highlights SafeDecoding, a method for safer inference, and Magpie, a technique for generating synthetic data to enhance alignment. The research tackles vulnerabilities that expose LLMs to jailbreak attacks, proposing solutions that avoid retraining or modifying the models. Conducted in collaboration with leading institutions, the work aims to enable safer and more reliable real-world LLM deployments.
Dr. Radha Poovendran, Professor at the University of Washington and Director of the Network Security Lab, focuses on the security and resilience of cyber systems, including AI-driven technologies and network security. An IEEE Fellow (2015), he has led U.S. federal agency-funded projects with research outcomes adopted by the U.S. Naval Research Lab. He has co-authored award-winning papers, including the IEEE/IFIP William C. Carter Award Paper (2010).
